The Center for Turning and Furniture Design is a program within the Department of Art. The majority of its undergraduate students are from Pennsylvania and more than half are women. Most are majoring in Art, either Studio Art or Art Education. The program also serves Art Minors from a wide variety of programs across campus. The undergraduate program is housed in a spacious sun-lit bench room with its own power tool shop that serves most of its needs. The Graduates have a dedicated bench room adjacent to a complete power tool shop that has more of a commercial capacity. This allows the larger shop to augment the smaller shop, as needed. The Faculty and the Resident Artist/Educator also have bench spaces in the Graduate bench room. A sanding room and finishing room serve both aspects of the program. Access and safety are maintained through Graduate Assistant and Work/Study supervision, and a Studio Technician. The Department of Art offers the BA, BFA, BSED, MA, and the MFA degrees.
